My sister told me how Celebrate Recovery was changing her life, so I wanted to join, hoping to find an answer I was searching for. I have been a Christian for 21 years and I kept wondering "Why do I keep turning my back on God? As I was doing my step work, I came to the question "What do you fear turning over to His care? I begged God to tell me the answer. He showed me that I feared rejection, not being loved, and abandonment. Since I turned those fears over to HIm, I have been moving forward and growing in recovery!

My name is Jeffrey Lyons. I am a teacher, an administrator and a scholar, and I am a broken man.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I am in recovery for a chemical imbalance, a condition that has led me to depression and anger. This depression and anger has driven me to make choices in the emotional and sexual areas of my life that have derailed my relationships, damaged my marriage, endangered my employment and separated me from the grace that God wants me to experience. I make no excuses – I am personally responsible for these choices, and to seek God for the assistance to overcome this condition.
Celebrate Recovery, and the slow unveiling of God’s truth in my life, has helped me understand what His plan for me all along has been – His slow, but constant process of being shaped by Him into His image. I find it not just a recitation of principles, but an open dialogue between my Savior and me, a voice as strong as a gale-force wind, but as quiet and peaceful as a whisper. May God use me to ASSIMILATE others into his healing presence.
