Ancient oak trees, like this one, have a beauty all their own. Though twisted and scaly on the outside, they are the toughest and longest-lasting trees. To create one takes decades, sometimes hundreds of years. A thousand enemies may attack it to bring it down but it continues to toughen until it takes on a grandeur unmatched by others. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I am in recovery for depression and anger, driven to make choices in my life that have distracted me from God’s grace. Celebrate Recovery, and the slow unveiling of God’s truth in my life, has helped me understand what His plan for me is – the slow process of being shaped into His image, solid, impenetrable by pest or circumstances, and able to yield only to His direction. The things that I consider unbearable are from Him, and fashion me, scaly or damaged a little on the outside, but able to bear ten times the load, tough as iron on the inside with roots that go deep into His heart.
I will take the administrative hand and make sure we have all the information we need to help, but with the other hand, I will offer my heart to those who need to hear healing words from Him.
